The Tambakrejo Fishing Village on the coast of Semarang is a story of a community that grew from a spirit of mutual cooperation and collective resilience. As traditional fishermen who depend on the sea and rivers for their livelihood, the Tambakrejo community faces numerous challenges. However, through strong solidarity, they continue to develop new ways to maintain their livelihoods and strengthen their community.
Women, youth, and fishermen are actively involved in various initiatives that are designed and implemented collectively. Through direct funding support and cooperation from various parties, the Tambakrejo Fishermen Community develops various efforts to improve community welfare, starting from the procurement of boats, fish aggregating devices (FADs) and green mussel cultivation.
The success of the Tambakrejo fishing community is not only measured from an economic perspective but also from a social perspective. A strong sense of belonging and solidarity among community members creates a mutually supportive environment. The Tambakrejo Fisherfolk's fish aggregating devic (FAD) program has increased the number of fish caught and improved the economic conditions of the community, showing that hard work and cooperation can turn challenges into opportunities.
