ATMAGO.com – The Bumi Sawerigading Foundation (YBS) Palopo facilitated a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Battang Barat Village Office, West Wara, Palopo City. The FGD focused on integrated waste management in the Ba'tan Indigenous community.

In his remarks, the Head of Battang Barat, Adam, welcomed the YBS initiative and called it a first step in building a shared understanding to keep their area free of waste. M. Taufiq Qurrachman added that in addition to being a traditional area, Battang Barat also boasts a watershed (DAS), a tourism sector, and MSMEs that reflect the city of Palopo, thus ensuring its cleanliness.

The activity facilitator, Nur Anwar, explained that the goal of the FGD was to build community awareness, participation, and capacity in waste management. The activity's coordinator, Mirdat, concluded the session by emphasizing that the event was expected to yield recommendations for integrated, integrated, and sustainable waste management.

Participants attending this FGD included various elements, including the community, traditional leaders, youth, women, sub-district government, and the Mapaccing Learning Forum (FBM).
