Jayapura, BUMIPAPUA.COM – Indigenous Peoples welcomed the launch of the Nusantara Fund which was initiated by three large organizations, namely AMAN, Indonesian Environmental Forum (WALHI) and the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA).
The launch of the Nusantara Fund, which will start operating next year, will coincide with the opening of the Sixth Indigenous Peoples Congress of the Archipelago (KMAN VI) in the Tabi Traditional Area, Jayapura, Papua, 24-30 October 2022.
Secretary General (Sekjen) AMAN Rukka Sombolinggi stated that the aim of launching the Nusantara Fund was so that indigenous communities could move work in their villages more quickly.
“Indigenous peoples can consolidate environmental movements, indigenous peoples’ movements, and agrarian reform movements throughout the archipelago,” he explained.
Rukka said, “Come on, let's pray that our plan will start operating next year!”
He said that the development of the Nusantara Fund was assisted by the Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA). The hope is that the Nusantara Fund can be operated to develop villages and consolidate everything.
