HIBATA.id – Bontula Hamlet, Bontula Village, Asparaga District, now has a new space that is the center of social activities and community empowerment. On Friday (25/04), Bantayo Pendidikan Rakyat was officially inaugurated, an initiative of the Bontula Lestari Women Farmers Collective accompanied by the Institute for Human and Ecological Studies (Inhides) and the Indonesian Environmental Forum (WALHI) Gorontalo.

Bantayo People's Education is an effort by the farming community of Bontula Hamlet, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo, to build a learning space based on local experiences and needs. Bantayo's primary goal is to increase the community's capacity to understand agrarian issues, gender justice, and strengthen the local resource-based economy. Learning at Bantayo is conducted through discussions, field practice, and the exchange of experiences among residents.

“Bantayo is not only a gathering place, but also a living learning space. Here, we can plant, harvest, dry the harvest, and store agricultural tools. For us, people's education is broad. It is not just a classroom, but all life processes that we can learn from,” said Samiya Suraji, Coordinator of the Bontula Lestari Women Farmers Collective.
