The Tebo Farmers Union (STT), which was founded in 2013, is in Lubuk Mandarsah Village, District. Tengah Ilir District. Tebo-Jambi is currently one of the Agrarian Reform Priority Locations. Since its inception, STT has had great attention and commitment to education. The government's attention to the education of farmers' children is still very minimal. Therefore, to save the future of farmers' children and ensure access to formal education, STT members worked together independently to build schools.
STT members have built two schools independently, namely a Madrasah and a Long Distance/Local Distance Primary School. The location of the two schools is around 1 km from Tanjung Bringin Hamlet, Tebo. The construction of road access to the school was also carried out independently. For Long Distance Elementary Schools, they are based at the nearest state elementary school, which is 4 km away.
Not enough to stop there, STT then felt the need to build a collective space as a container for various educational activities, ideologization, and consolidation. This place will then become the center of education, discussion, deliberation, women's empowerment, and other joint activities in encouraging and expanding the movement. To this end, at the end of 2021, KPA Jambi Region and STT management held discussions about the plan to build an Agrarian Reform Education Center.
STT and union members held further deliberations and reached an agreement on the construction location in the Tanjung Bringin Hamlet area, Lubukmandarsah Village. In planning the construction of the hall, it was also agreed on the division of work roles and alternative routes that had to be taken to bring building materials considering the unfriendly terrain.
The development process was carried out independently by all members of the Tebo Farmers Union. Young cadres and women are also actively involved in the development process. The member farmer group that is intensively involved in building the hall is the Alam Lestari Farmers Group, because the hall is located in the area of this farmer group. An alternating work pattern is applied so as not to interfere with each member's activities.
This 12 x 7 meter educational hall was built for approximately 1 year. The Nusantara Fund's Direct Funding Support in the realization of the Hall's construction is a complementary part of all the time, energy, thoughts, and resources devoted to collective work in the field to realize the Hall. Now the RAS Education Hall has been standing on the land of members of the Tebo Farmers Union which has been fought for since 2006 until now and is the first hall of the member farmer's union KPA which was built in Jambi.
In the hall there is also a library with reading materials such as children's books, science, history, philosophy, etc. which can be accessed by members and non-members. It is hoped that this library can increase knowledge for the children of STT member farmers.
In the future, this hall will also be used as a place for education and skills practice that can support farmers' work, for example the manufacture of solid and liquid organic fertilizers, by utilizing materials from several types of plants around the Tebo Farmers Union location.
