From December 2022 to January 2023, Yayasan Cakrawala Hijau Indonesia (YCHI) runs the program "Identification of the Existence of Indigenous Communities in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan". The program is supported by the Nusantara Fund and assistance from Walhi South Kalimantan.
There were two main activities, namely identification and mapping activities which were then followed up by presenting 18 Paramasan traditional communities in FGD hearings with the government.
The data collection and mapping activities of the Indigenous Community in Paramasan District were carried out for 1 month. This process is often hampered by technical matters, especially the difficult route for vehicles to pass through and extra efforts to meet with traditional leaders. Data collection techniques include discussions and interviews with the community and traditional leaders.
In addition, the coordinate points of the traditional hall were also taken as a representation of the existence of the traditional community in Banjar Regency in particular, and the Traditional Community in the Meratus Mountains in general. The following is the data on the traditional hall and the status of the area in Paramasan District.

From the results of field identification observations, it can be concluded that the description of the Paramasan Indigenous Community's cultural traditions. Namely that the aruh adat or babalian system in Paramasan is divided into 2, namely the Balian Jumbuk and Balian Mambur aruh systems. At first glance, there is no difference between the two. However, if observed, there are differences in the aruh ritual and the arrangements in the traditional hall.
Based on the results of discussions and short interviews with traditional leaders, there are several communities that actually originate from Loksado. So their way of aruh and rituals is very similar to Dayak Loksado - Hulu Sungai Selatan. Meanwhile, Balali Induk and several other communities have ritual methods similar to those of the Harakit community in Tapin Regency. However, the differences here are not differences that should be disputed. Because based on the narrative of the traditional rulers and Balian, the aim and delivery of their prayers is the same, namely the Almighty.
The identification and mapping activities were then followed up by presenting the 18 Indigenous Peoples communities in an audience and FGD with the government. The FGD audience with the title of encouraging recognition and protection of indigenous peoples in Banjar Regency resulted in a joint agreement between the Sub-district government, Village Government and figures from 18 communities in Paramasan to encourage the Recognition and Protection of MHA in Banjar Regency.
