Kampar.aman.or.id – Two indigenous women's groups from Batu Songgan and Aur Kuning participated in a weaving group capacity building training held on June 21–22, 2025, in Batu Songgan Village, Kampar Kiri Hulu District. The training was organized by the Regional Management. AMAN Kampar with support from Dana Nusantara.
The training, facilitated by mentors from SUWAI's assisted communities, was divided into two sessions: managing raw materials for weaving and producing products such as key chains and sandals. Participants also learned how to process pandan leaves, from boiling and drying to softening before weaving. Mentors corrected outdated techniques and provided hands-on guidance on the production process.
One participant, Lendriani, explained that her weavings had previously only been marketed within the community. Products like mats, sumpik, and ambuang were sold for between Rp 150.000 and Rp 800.000. She believes the training gave her new insights into material processing techniques that had previously been overlooked.
This training aims to improve the quality and economic value of local products produced by Subayang indigenous women. AMAN Kampar, Himyul Wahyudi, stated that this activity is a commitment to developing women's artisan groups and encouraging innovation and product quality as a step towards economic independence.
