Sentani, MC KMAN VI – Indigenous Peoples welcomed the launch of the Nusantara Fund which was initiated by three large organizations, namely AMAN, Indonesian Environmental Forum (WALHI), and the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA).
The launch of the Nusantara Fund, which will start operating next year, was held to coincide with the opening of the Sixth Indigenous Peoples Congress of the Archipelago (KMAN VI) in the Tabi Traditional Area, Jayapura, Papua on October 24, 2022.
Secretary General (Sekjen) AMAN Rukka Sombolinggi stated that the purpose of the launch of the Nusantara Fund initiated by the three organizations is so that we can move work in the village more quickly. Then, we can consolidate the environmental movement, the Indigenous Peoples movement, and the agrarian reform movement throughout the archipelago.
Rukka said, “Come on, let's pray that our plan will start operating next year!”
He said that the development of the Nusantara Fund was assisted by our friends from the Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA). The hope is that the Nusantara Fund can be operationalized to develop villages and consolidate everything.
