Land for the People: True Agrarian Reform Academy – YAPHI

Losing land is not just losing a place to live, but also losing a source of livelihood. In Central Java, the Yekti Angudi Piadeging Hukum Indonesia Foundation (YAPHI) is present through the True Agrarian Reform Academy (ARAS) with the support of the Nusantara Fund Direct Funding, organizing True Agrarian Reform Academy (ARAS) to equip communities with legal knowledge and advocacy strategies to strengthen their position in their efforts to fight for land rights.

Through ARAS, participants are equipped with a comprehensive understanding of true agrarian reform, effective advocacy techniques, and strengthening community organizations. Training materials include legal analysis related to agrarian conflicts, public campaign strategies, the importance of building collaborative networks, and highlighting the urgency of recognizing land rights for women.

The training was attended by representatives from nine organizations in the Solo, Pati, Wonogiri, and Sragen areas affected by various land conflicts. A total of 30 participants received direct capacity building, while more than 7.700 people felt indirect benefits from this activity. In addition, the ARAS training also produced an action roadmap for each community, including steps such as remapping the area, strengthening the organizational structure, and audiences with policy makers.
