AGRARIAN REFORM STRUGGLE VILLAGE: A STRATEGY FOR SOLIDITY IN THE STRUGGLE OF LOCAL FARMER ORGANIZATIONS IN JATISARI IN WEST JAVA

The Jatisari Local Farmers Organization (OTL) is a farmers' association under the auspices of the Pasundan Farmers Union (SPP) in Garut Regency, West Java Province. The association is located in Jatisari Village, Cisompet, Garut. Since the 90s, the Jatisari OTL has been in conflict with state-owned plantations. Meanwhile, the reclaimed land is now routinely planted with secondary crops, rice, and other food crops.

Currently, the Jatisari OTL is developing the Agrarian Reform Struggle Village as a meeting place for deliberation, education, and training. This initiative is supported by SPP Garut, the parent organization of the association. The meeting agreed on several agenda items for the village development initiative: 1) expanding the secretariat building by adding a kitchen, toilet, and restroom; 2) constructing a rice barn or the boat; 3) road repairs; 4) construction of rice mills; 5) construction homestay to increase the organization's cash flow; and, 6) conservation area nurses. The meeting also agreed to actively involve women and the younger generation. In its implementation, the initiative, which was carried out through mutual cooperation, was only able to complete the construction of a kitchen, toilet, and rest room due to significant challenges.

During the implementation of this initiative, the Jatisari OTL members faced more external challenges. The first external challenge was the weather. Because the work was carried out during periods of frequent rainfall, they had to adjust their schedule to suit clearer weather. The second challenge was the village's considerable distance from the main road and its accessibility. This made transporting materials quite challenging.

This initiative has had direct implications for the 1.308-hectare administrative area of ​​Jatisari Village. It has also impacted the 5.840 residents of the Jatisari area. Although not yet operational, the involvement of women and youth has increased with the new direction established, and the development continues to this day.
